folks;
is there any requirement to implement the interstage cooler of compressors based on discharge temperature?
according to the some reading, when exceeding 150 Deg we need intersatge one.

any reference to API, ASME??

Bit of a strange forum for this question - gas compression or pipelines and piping might be better next time.

Anyway, not as far as I know.

It's more that it makes a lot of sense from a materials view, a process point of view and a mechanical point of view ( less thermal expansion) and vendors might not like it.

So what's not to like?

API and ASME don't normally force process conditions on you. They don't know or care about your particular process conditions. Maybe you want or need a high discharge temperature. Compressors in jet engines don't have intercoolers...

So "Requirement" NO
Generally accepted good idea most of the time - YES
