Hello Engineers,

I have an upcoming interview with SpaceX for the position of Senior Reliability Engineer for spaceflight components. The primary goals of this role are to improve reliability, reduce component failures, and enhance overall system performance.

Can you please recommend some resources—such as PDFs, books, or online articles—that would help me prepare for this position? Additionally, what kinds of questions do you think I can expect during the interview? The position focuses on reliability engineering for human-rated spacecraft and related systems.

Thank you!

If you are applying for the position of Senior Reliability Engineer, then I would expect that you already have significant experience in that field and should be able to answer those questions yourself.
I know that sounds snarky, but as an engineer with decades of experience, I think I should be able to point out the disconnect there.

As a senior reliability engineer, you should already own textbooks or papers on reliability, and you should be already familiar with MIL-HDBK-217 reliability analysis as well as familiarity with software that implements at least that methodology, in addition to a variety of other similar approaches.

yeah, sorry man ... you should have the starting of your own library, at least googled the term and downloaded some texts. But then "surely" you know at least something of this field ... I do wonder what your resume says ??

I once had an interviewee who listed familiarity with a software program that I used a lot; so I asked, "What sorts of things have you modeled with XYZ?" They nervously replied, "Oh, I watched someone use the program once;" they quickly lost my vote after that.

we have some many similar stories ... small world !

There's always YouTube. Just look up 'How to make an employer think you're competent in a job interview'.

We are now approaching 20 Dec, 30 days after this plea.
(Robt wonders if the interview was successful in revealing the qualifications for a Senior Reliability Engineer at SpaceX.)
