Hi All

I have question which has been bugging me for awhile. In my drawing templates/format is a field set to &PROI_REVISION. This updates when you change the revision in Intralink, is there a way to update this field in drawing mode without having to save the drawing, close and erase memory and reopen?

Thanks for you help

Haven't played with that in Pro/I, yet.

Try this. When you demote the object in Pro/I to allow for modification, change the revision. Then when you open the file in Pro/E, it should read the new value for &PROI_REVISION. Ben Loosli

Hi Ben

You are correct, that does work, what I'm asking is if you have already made mod's to a drawing and remember that you have not promoted the revision, so you enter workspace and modify the revision, and then back to your drawing without closing it, the &PROI_REVISION field will not update, or I'm not pressing the correct buttons.

Thanks

I will see if I can play with this on my install of Pro/I.

The whole concept of te way PDM works within CAD is going to be a challenge for us. We have been on UG for 15+ years and have been managing our data with a home-grown PDM. When we do a save-as to the existing part file, it updates the revision attribute, but the designer still has to run te drawing format program to update the revision on the face of the drawing. At least that is minor compared with your having to close, erase and reopen the part.

You may be using PROI_REVISION from the model or from the drawing but whichever you use this is the procedure:-
1) Save changes of everything that you have modified in the current ProE session
2) Refresh the workspace browser then set the revision and any other attributes of the drawing and/or model that you might use in the drawing.
3) Go back to Pro-E and select FILE-REPLACE. N.B. This can overwrite all objects in current memory, hence the importance of step 1.
4) The drawing should now be correct but if necessary refresh the display.
