Inventor assembly configurations.... where? 3

In order to show an exploded assembly in drafting, an ".ipt" presentation file must be created. From what I see, Inventor does not have the ability to define different assembly configs within the assembly itself (like Solidworks can so easily). I understand that Inventor can define different "level of detail", but this only switches between different states of suppression.... it is not an assembly configuration. Assembly configs are a great design tool and has been standard in cad programs for a long time. Please tell me that Inventor is not this primitive.

Inventor has something called Positional Representations that is similar to configurations.

Assembly "configurations" in solidworks is called an "iassembly" in Inventor. Part "configurations" are done with an "ipart"

And just to correct the OP..
A presentation (exploded view) is an "IPN" file.. A single part file is an "IPT"

Yes, my mistake.... ipn is the presentation file, ipt is the part file. Thanks, I will check these things out.

Also Inventor does configurations differently. Inventor will create separate children files so they can be tracked correctly in a Data Management system. Even though the configuration table lies in the Factory, children files will be created so they can be tracked accordingly for Revision and Change Management. Keep this in mind as you are generating configurations.
