involute gear drawing 1

yes i am new to auto cad and engineering in general. I am updating drawings for a turboprop motot and have to draw some involute gears that were drawn in the 50's

i have internal splines that dont give the the base diameter and they want them drawn like a external spline. can anyone help me in finding a web site that will show exactly how to draw involute splines. Or is there anyone out there that can explain it if i give the number i have to you.

There are some Lisp programs which create the gears/involute splines. Try to search on the Web!
If you know the cutting/checking data for your splines (they have to be a part of the old drawing) then the rest is just some math and programming. I can create for you the 2D dxf file for such spline (without root fillets, you can add it easily), then you can extrude it to create 3D solid model. I do not use ACAD, I can not create dwg file. If you want it, tell us:

No. of teeth
Module ( or Diametral Pitch)
Pressure angle
Major dia
Root dia
your e-mail

 
Sorry, I missed more parameters:
1. the tooth thicknes/space (circular) and the diameter where it is measured, or the size over/between pins

For helical gears I need also the helix angle, but this is not your case.
 
I have drawn straight teeth spur gears and bevel gear w/ autocad 2000 in 2D and 3D; but then I had to rely on Mechanical Desktop to drawn the only spiral bevel gear in my life in 3D and that was a lot of work in which I had to use the rail command to curve a tooth and then polar array it to get the gear shape.
 
Unless you are concerned with issues like tip to fillet interferences, there is little value to making an accurate drawing of a gear or spline. Common practice is to show the ootside and root diameters as phantom circles and the pitch diameter as a centerline circle. If you are drawing a splined shaft and your specifications are correct, you should not need to make an accutate drawing of the spline teeth.
