Hi,

I just recently had a good experience using IP cameras with network interface for machine vision on our factory.

I have used AXIS 210, 207 cameras ( and SONY RZ50 PTZ cameras.

To find a proper lens focal length I have used a calc from
To get the video I just used an ActiveX from AXIS and it took just 4 days to have a video in our software.

Before we have used picolo cameras and it was really hard to install, wire and integrate it. But with the IP technology it is way easier.

Best regards
Barmi

You've addressed a good portion of the considerations to be made when utilizing IP cameras; however do not neglect:

- Available network bandwidth (avoid impacting other users of capacity)
- DHCP/Static IP addressing schema (avoid impacting other devices on network)
- Storage capacity available for keeping video (avoid filling up network drives that otherwise require space)
- Potential subnet requirement if you exceed available unreserved IP's (avoid ticking-off the IT guys)
