IP66 rating 1

Hi everyone,
I'm getting a IP66 rated enclosure, and 2 IP66 rated push buttons, a estop push button to be installed on the enclosure. My question is, once i've installed them, is the IP66 rating of the enclosure still valid? Does it require some type of sealing if it isn't?

Does it require certification?

As I understand it, if the switches are to IP66 (or IP67)then their rating includes the necessary sealing gasket(s) to maintain that level of dust & waterproofing when fitted to a suitable similarly-rated enclosure.

As to whether it requires certification that all depends on who is going to use it - 'in house' use, or sold to a customer. Probably not cost-effective for a one-off but if you are making lots to sell you could always get am independent test house to certify the first built to IP66 for proof of design.
