Is anyone aware of the California Building Code requirements for the internal design of package cooling towers? The AHJ is asking us to prove that the equipment meets the CBC but the mfr does not supply calculations. It is a 50000 lb package unit. We have already provided adequate anchorage design.

I'm not knowledgeable... but i would ask other manufacturers if they can provide the data and then go with them. Or talk to AHJ and find out alternate methods to prove compliance. or have the manufacturer talk to AHJ since they sure would be interested in selling their equipment in CA.

If start by asking the AHJ to provide full citations to the requirements they are asking assurance for.

Thanks. It is hard to nail AHJ down on anything. They always want to leave themselves an out. They keep repeating that they just need calcs that show compliance with CBC.
