Is Draftsight 2019 Standard (not free) = old Draftsight 2017 (free)? 1

I only work in 2D, and REALLY liked Draftsight 2017 because it worked just like old versions of AutoCad, which is what I can run in my sleep.

Have any previous free Draftsight users bought the new Draftsight 2019 yet? Does it look and operate just like the old free versions??

I hope so. I am an old-school user - meaning I type shortcuts in the command line, and struggle with any changes to the abbreviations (which was my problem with nanoCad) Having to click open dropdowns for everything also really slows me down. The old free Draftsight was enough like old AutoCad that I could just draft at high-speed without re-learning a new system. I don't mind spending the $99 a year, if the 2019 version works just like the old one did...

I can't answer that but have you checked to see if you can trial the 2019 std for 30 days? I've been trying, for a month, about every package out there except Draftsight. They all seem to offer trials.

Good morning.
I also operated AutoCad for 25 years at my previous job.
5 years ago I took a job closer to home , which used DraftSight 2017
We update to the paid version of 2019 2-months ago.
the new version operates the same, it does offer updated options which you can learn at your own pace.
You can select to operate in the traditional operating window.
we just upgraded to Windows-10, we are having issues with Draftsight 2019,
unable to use mouse in viewing window.

As long as you stay with Windows-8, you will be fine, Good Luck

Hi Vance,

Thank you for sharing your experience!
Unfortunately I have been running Windows 10 for a long time, so going back to 8 is probably not an option.
Is the "viewing window" the same as the normal screen where drawing and editing is done?

Since the old Draftsight 2017 stopped working, I have been using NanoCad. It's not bad, but there are just enough differences in operation from the old Draftsight that it slows me down, and I yell at the computer occasionally. But I can eventually produce decent prints with it.

Let me know if you figure out the Windows 10 problem.

Thanks again,

Greg (who used to live in Columbia MO)

I am checking with DraftSight to see if they will offer an uodate patch for Windows-10
