Hi
We received this morning a hot water pump at the shop, pumping to pressure over 300 psi. It is a 3 inches pump in Cast iron. We found a crack in the casing.

Is it included in ASME pressure vessel Code ? Do I need to use a qualified procedure, welder, etc..

I just want to know if I can repair it or not with on of our welder... Where can I find this information.

Thanks

Based on the Committee’s consideration,
the following classes of vessels are not included in the
scope of this Division; however, any pressure vessel
which meets all the applicable requirements of this Division
may be stamped with the Code U Symbol:
...
(c) pressure containers which are integral parts
or components of rotating or reciprocating mechanical
devices, such as pumps, compressors, turbines, generators,
engines, and hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders where
the primary design considerations and /or stresses are
derived from the functional requirements of the device;
