Can anyone help me? I need to know if HTHA (High Temperature Hydrogen Attack) is a form of corrosion or not?
I look forward to any replies that could determine this. Thanks in advance, Chris

Since "corrosion" and "high temperature hydrogen attack" are both defined in ASTM G193, and the results of the latter meet the definition of the former, the answer would have to be in the affirmative.

Since it is a material degradation mechanism it is considered a form of high temperature corrosion.
Even though strictly speaking many high temperature attack mechanisms are not truly 'corrosion' in the sense that no external chemical reactions with the effected alloy are taking place.
