Is it possible to implement non-linear thickness modulus with Continuum shells?

Hello,

I have developed a hypoelastic VUMAT which describes the behaviour of woven fabrics during forming processes for composite manufacture. The VUMAT works fine, however I need to enhance the model by considering the through thickness compliance of the fabric. To do this I have been considering using Continuum shell elements (SC8R).

When using these elements I have to define a Thickness modulus. As the compressive stiffness of the fabric is non linear, I would like to update the modulus incrementally based on the strain.

I believe the material definition for this element remains plane stress and so I don't believe I can do this directly using my VUMAT, therefore I need a work around. Does anyone have any suggestions for this?

Thanks
