Is modifing the jack rafter on connection change anything?

well just want to ask that is the edge of jack rafter originally a C Purlin (CFS) cut at edge and split to fit the connection at the end of hip without using any plate connection.Which originally using a creeper bracket(steel plate)to connect Hip rafter .Is it okie or not? Will the loading bearing of the connection change? How to check?
