5 ton 230 v single phase R22 residential A/C compressor
Copeland Scroll type compressor
RUUD system - circa 3/99

with compressor leads unhooked measuring with a Fluke 87 digital VOM.

First is a measurement lead to lead.

R to S - many mega ohms - around 7 M ohms but it climbs the longer you hold it.

R to C - .6 ohms

C to S - many mega ohms - around 7 M ohms but it climbs the longer you hold it.

Second is a measurement between each lead and the compressor base.

R to base - around 7 M ohms
C to base - around 7 M ohms
S to base - around 1.9 M ohms

Is my compressor bad?

If it is, is it possible it has contaminated my lineset and a-coil with acid?

Typical C to S are around ~ 5 ohms and C to R ~ 2 ohms and S to R about 7 so what your reading is almost an open winding at 7 M remember you have to have all the power wiring disconected before you take your readings. I dought that you have a burn out
