Is NX 2206.5001 stable 2

NX users, it appears I'm the company wind dummy (first off the ground) here at my company with Version 2206. Moving from 1899. Is 2206 stable or are you finding it buggy?

We are currently using NX 1919 (the last patch of the 1899 series) for production. I have 2206 installed for testing. The big decision you have in front of you is if you are going to use the new sketcher or not. In 2206, the new sketcher is the default, but you can turn it off and use the old one. Any time you edit an old sketch, NX will prompt you to convert it to the new sketcher. Note that any sketches created or "upgraded" with the new sketcher cannot be edited with the old sketcher.

I'd suggest making a copy of a few production parts you have, and make some routine edits with the new sketcher to see how you like it.

how does the versioning work? From the siemens site I see 2216 is the latest. I'm guessing that was introduced in January? So there are probably releases in between 2206 and 2216. Would you know the last release in the 2206 series?

The latest is 2212. The first two numbers is the year of the release and the last two is the month. Makes tracking the revisions a bit easier. They come out with a new major release every 6 months. 2306 is in EAP at the current time.

Looks like the latest version of 2206 is 2206.8700, released on April 4, 2023. If you have access to the Siemens support site, you can go to NX -> downloads -> pick the version, and it will show all the minor versions of the major version you chose. Note that this only works for the last few releases; at some point they remove old versions from the main download page. If you really need access to a specific older version, you have to contact Siemens support and they will make it available to you.

I have yet another question, the 2206.8700 has two options, one of which is "batch". What is the difference between the two?

The "batch" version runs on linux, that much I am sure of.

I think that version has minimal (or no) GUI and is meant to be driven by custom code. Something like changing the parameters of a file and running FEA on it. I'm not entirely sure.

Siemens currently releases 2 main NX versions per year. ( previously 1/year) The current scheme is release in June and December.
The version numbers was f...ed up until last year. From 2022 the June release is named NX2206 and the December NX2212. Logical.
Before this, somebody had some pretty bad luck when thinking and they decided that after NX12 ( released 2017) they would stop naming the version totally and that it would only be "NX" without specific version number. They also believed that all users would be setting the "Automatic Update= on", which probably quite few did.
This idea failed since as soon as a new feature is implemented in the code, a file saved with that "NX Version" can no longer be opened with an older NX version... -we need to know the NX version.
So then S added a number to NX, but instead of using a logical number, they used significant years in the Siemens history as the number where the version after NX12 was NX1847. ( Siemens was founded 1847 )
That said, it's back to logical numbers now.
For each main version , ( NX2206, NX2212) there will be bugfixes released with some set intervals. ( I do not remember when ) this is where the 2206.8700 comes in .

I'm not cowski, but...

it's the "Use the new solver and UI for sketching" entry in the Early Access Features dialog (the Customer Default for that has to be enabled as well).
