Hi, I've installed Catia V5R15 on my labtop (Dell Inspiron 5100), the installation seems to be fine, but unfortunaterly I can't make it to run. I got this error: "No certified OpenGL library has been found" Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Thanks for replying, I have seen that link before making this post. However, are you suggesting that I should buy one of those PC? To be honest, after buying my dell laptop, I've decided not to buy a Dell again, because it's only expensive for the brand name. My qusetion is what kind of graphic card would work with it? Or is there anyway I can make it work with my Radeon 7500c graphic card, like updating the OpenGl library? If there is other solution, do you have any suggestion for me?

I'm considering buying a new PC just to make Catia work, because I really need this program for my project, but definitively not a Dell. Do they have a list of graphic card that is certified? Or do they have a way to go around that certified check?

Believe me, I've search every single link of Google, and still can't find the answer. My dad has an older computer, but Catia work on it. His computer is not even listed in the certified system. The only different between my laptop and his PC is the window SP1 and window SP2. I've never like SP2, therefore I was on SP1, now I'm upgrading it to SP2 to see if any change.

If you look at the above link to CATIA Certified equipment, you can derive a configuration that will work. Yes, you may not have exactly that brand, but as long as the Graphics Card, OS, and Drivers are correct, you should be OK. CATIA seems to be pretty immune to the other aspects of the hardware.

That being said, if you run into a Bug, DS may not be able to fix it for unsupported hardware.

We have set up a floating license so Catia can run around site. We have it on some very low spec machines (SIS onboard graphics / Intel onboard graphics, ATI and Nvida), we have never had a problem. It sounds like the graphics drivers may not be installed, I'm not sure but windows by default may only use dummy drivers. Can you use any other 3d Application (games / other cad software)? Even a 3d screen saver?

I'd also suggest trying to upgrade you directX (not sure if it will make a difference but it won't hurt to try).

Darrude,
I totally agree with you, there must be something wrong with my graphic driver. But to be honest, I can't seem to find the problem.

I did installed Directx 9.0c. It's still not working.

I didn't use the default drivers from Microsoft, I installed the original driver giving by Dell support, but I still have the feeling is not the right drivers. I went around the web to find a better driver, but it seems to be almost impossible to find one for 7500c. Anyhow, I found one from driverguide.com and when I installed it, it said graphic card driver is not installed or something like that.

Now I'm kinda confused, I uninstall the driver, install a new one with Ati Control and yet I still can't installed the driver I downloaded from driverguide.

I don't play game that much, the only game I have on my laptop is a Age Of Empire, and I do have a problem with it as well. As for 3d software, none... but I can't make X-Plane to work properly. Same problem with the OpenGL. I think the biggest problem is when I installed something about the OpenGL, but can't remember what I've installed...

I sound dump now, but I'm so desperately need to make Catia work.

That doesn't sound to promising!

I hate to say this, but, have you condsidered trying to re-install Windows? I had to re-install for a friends ACER Laptop but only to change to NTFS file system from FAT32.

Also if you look on your screen saver menu go to 3d maze(open gl) and see if that works.

I am considering re-formatting my system. But I'm kinda worry about the drivers, because I've lost the driver CD. All the drivers I have right now are the one I've already installed, I'm worry that it will be the same problem afterward.

So I'm still hesistating.

Reinstall your system Catia runs on almost anything, it might crash a lot but to get it running it's not really picky.
The drivers for your laptop you can download from their website so that should be no problem rather the opposite you get the newest drivers.
I have had no problem with Dell, HP workstations I think you can't blame the manufacturer for it but your self you might have some software installed antivirus, firewalls etc that might prevent it from work.
Are you actually running a licenced copy I mean isn't it a waist of money running an expensive license on a low end laptop especially since you're desperate to get it to work!

I finally format my laptop. The first thing I've done is to install my graphic card driver and then CATIA V5R5 P3. Thanks God, it worked perfectly. I'm happy now, Catia V5 WORKED on my crappy laptop.

Thank you everyone for your replies.
Quick Question, do you guys know where is the best place to find some catia tutorial?
I'm in love with CATIA

Hi again

First of all, you can use the User Companion for different workbenches.
