So i just found out our nameplates on our valves are not holding up to the test of time and harsh environments. Is there a specific code that asme calls out for nameplates? This would be for a 5000 psi valve, usually used in the oilfield. Not on the wellhead.

ASME B16.34 requires marking on the valve body as well as an identification plate. ASME B16.34 states marking shall comply with MSS SP-25.

5000 psi is API 6A, but section 8 only says what type of information is required and not on the nameplate material.

By the look of it MSS-25 is the same, i.e. no recommendation.

I think I've only seen this on company specifications, not a code.

Stainless steel or aluminium seem to be favourite materials.

Or ask these people?
