OK I'm in over my head again (as usual). I used to have a colleague that had a sign above his desk that said "Life is a cruel teacher. It makes you take the test before you've had a chance to study."

Is there an AWWA code that does the same thing as B31.3, as far as establishing allowable stresses, flexibility requirements, requirements for materials, joints, etc. etc.? I am doing a project in a municipal pumping station and I don't think I can apply B31.3 to this project with a straight face.

Thanks guys! Pete

It sounds like you are most interested in piping materials. Probably most often used for such purposes are the extensive C1XX series of standards for ductile iron pipe and fittings including standards for design, joints, manufacture, coatings and linings, fabricated flanged and grooved etc. pipe etc. There are also C2XX series of standards for steel piping etc. as well as others. As far as more niceties and nuances of all this, as well as other equipment and processes that may be of help, I have seen the Pumping Station Design reference by Garr and Sanks et al mentioned on several past threads on these forums e.g.

Oops, should have also mentioned a whole series also of AWWA Manuals with more information on specialty etc. design, including M41, M11 and many others.
