That is a strange question. More and more problems are being solved by simulation (structural, fluid, thermal, etc.) Why would ANSYS not be useful in a career? Why would learning any one of many pre-processors for NASTRAN not be useful in a career?

Most of the grown-up FEA guys i know will use whichever of the FEA packages is best for the problem at hand.

In my opinion, learning any FEA software can be beneficial for your overall knowledge. In general, most aircraft companies use Nastran for linear analysis and Abaqus for non-linear analysis. As such, if I had a choice, I would learn Nastran or Abaqus.

Right now Edx is running a course /// CornellX:ENGR2000X:A Hands-on Introduction to Engineering Simulations///. Good one. You can audit the full course for free. ANSYS student license provided.
