Island of dimension text - edit cross hatch

To clear the hatchings intersecting the dimensions I add it to the hatch boundry,it creates an island around the dimensiontext and text is clearly visible.
How can I change the size of this Island surronding the text,without changing the text height so that hatching is clearly visible.

This is a case where you can't have your cake and eat it too. According to what I've read, the spacing around the text is controlled by the size of the text itself, so there's nothing you can do other than changing text size.
