Hi experts,

I need to understand the following situations with respect to Rc 1.5 thread engagement. Per design, there's a threaded thermowell stub used in high pressure boiler with Rc1.5 internal taper thread. Whereas the connecting thermowell has an external taper thread of R1.5.

1. Under normal circumstances both the male and female parts are engaging only four threads after hand tightening. Is it the case?
2. How many threads have to engage for pressure tightness? Here the Max pressure is of the order of 400 kg/cm2 and above.
3. Beyond hand tightening, for how many more thread engagements should we tighten with wrench? Is wrench tightening required at all?
4. One of our clients had mistakenly removed a portion of the length of thermowell stub from top removing first two threads in the process. In this case, the plug gauge is not even getting engaged for a single thread. What could be the reason?

Thanks in advance!
