I need to locate or design a very small isolated DC/DC converter for a military application that has the following general requirements:

Input: +5VDC +/- 5%, 36mA max.
Output: +12VDC +/-25%, 7mA min. at 9V (63mW)
Isolation: >500VDC min.
Max Height: 0.095"
Max Lenght: 0.325"
Max Width: 0.400"
Temp Range: -40C to +85C (+110C desired)
Schedule: Very Urgent

We use Burr Brown (TI) series DCV01, DCR01, and DCP02 isolated 1W and 2W converters on many projects. However, none of these devices will meet this application's requirements due to a very small item that will house this circuit. We have an in-house hybrid circuit design and fabrication capability that can be used to implement a custom circuit if nothing COTS can be located.

We will appreciate any sugestions and guidance on this subject.

You could build your own. I quickly went to the Linear Technology website, typed "isolated" into their search and got several different parts recommended with 500 V isolated indicated in example circuits such as the LT1425. There are others too. Check for the package size, size of additional components, mil spec part availability. I think TI and National may also have switch regulators with example isolated circuits as well.

Ah yes! Nice one shammer. I couldn't remember this company. I've used their NMD 5V to 5V they worked great.

They've shrunk them even more.

I thank you.

One warning.. they will do a full court press to sell you.
You will get multiple calls from all sorts of sales people wanting to know HOW MANY!?!?!?! HOW SOON!?!?!?

rica: You might just try to buy one from a distributor first, unless getting 20 calls in two months isn't a problem. :)
