What's the deal with V5R17 and points? Lets say you create a point, use it to create another feature (line, sketch,....), and you end up modifying the feature that defined that point. The usual message box will come up to let you edit, isolate, or delete a feature. But it won't let you isolate the point. Only thing you can do is delete the point which screws everything up.

isolating points in V5R17

The "usual" message box? What you described sounds more like an update dialog.
Did you try using mouse button 3 -> Point.name -> Isolate?
