Hi,
I have a part with multiple surfaces. I sew all surfaces. Then export as IGES file. When i open the same iges file in Catia , the file has multiple surfaces instead of single surface. Any solution for this issue?

The problem is probably with Catia. Have you got the option 'Join surfaces of the model' set in the IGES import options?

Is there an import option in Catia ? I didnt found.. I directly opened the iges file in Catia.. And hence didnt find any such option

Is the Catia version very-very old ?
if not, why use Iges and not Step ?

In comparison, Iges is a very old translator which haven't been updated in recent years.
If you can use Step, you will most probably get better results than iges.

From wikipedia :
:

"After the initial release of STEP (ISO 10303) in 1994, interest in further development of IGES declined, and Version 5.3 (1996) was the last published standard."

Tomas

The options form is under Tools/Options. Select the Compatibility node under General in the tree on the left. There is a tab on the right for your IGES options.

Thank You Mike.. After changing the setting, its solved.. We have only one step license in Catia. Hence, need to use iges file more often since we dnt get the license always.
