The background is that we are a valve manufacturer. We receive 3.1 certs for all of the metal pressure containing parts; bar stock, forgings, castings.
I produce a 3.1 certificate that notes the heat numbers of the materials used and includes copies of the supplier's MTRs for these materials. The cert also describes the pressure testing that was done as per API 598 & BS EN 12266-1.
Someone has proposed that we take all of the various and varied MTRs that we receive from our suppliers and make them into a uniform company format, (using a currently unspecified method), with our company header replacing the supplier's. (I'm assuming that the original MTRs would be on file.)
My question is whether it is permissible for us to do this? Thank you.

As a general rule for all certifications of a higher degree all materiel certificates must be traceable: it must describe exactly how, where and by whom the tests were done. Substituting your heading for the original issuer will make the material certificates invalid.

Thanks for the input gerhardl, that was my understanding as well.
I was told that reason that it came up is that "some of our competitors" are doing it.

I think they mean a "summary" sheet where you state the main values from the manufacturers and then include the real certificates from the suppliers.

Hi ManoloGalarraga, what I was told was that we would keep the originals on file, but that the MTRs included with the 3.1 certificates that we supply to customers with the valves would be "our" version of the MTR and not a summary.
My understanding is that if we obfuscate the source of the MTR in some way, i.e. do not show the actual foundry's address / contact information, then it is no longer valid.
