Jacket design for expansion differential

Hello everyone,

My jacket design is as per figure9-6 (e-1)of appendix-9.now i am stuck at calculation for loadings by expansion differentials at design temperature.can i just straight calculate thermal stress and compare it with its material stress? or any other method????

Refer to para 9-6(d)(6), where the differential thermal expansion is to be designed on a similar basis to that of expansion joints, under the conditions of U-2(g), in combination with UG-22 and UG-23.
