Hello.
I have a 50Litre jacketed vessel in a new process, that will have a glycol supply to it at -5 deg C.
It needs to bring the solution inside from 80 to 15 DegC. No specific time lines given
It has 25mm connection on it. Does anyone know the KW cooling required here and flow rate of chilled glycol?

Liam,

To work this out you need to know - amount of energy in Joules that needs to be removed from the "solution" to go from 80 to 15C. Then add a bit to allow for thermal losses / heat input as you cool it down.

Then you really do need to know how long you want this process to take as Power (KW) is Energy (Joules) divided by time in seconds.

No time, no power calcualtion.

If you really don't know, estimate, but put that estimate in any e-mail or report.

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

Is there any agitation in the vessel? 50 L is not very large, but you have given no info on the contact surface area of the jacket. If the liquid in the vessel is stagnant, it will take longer. but again, this is a small vessel. More info is needed.
