Hello
How can I simulate in Ansys the action to join two elements? And how can I simulate support an element on other one with his weight? I am sorry if my English is not very good. I hope that the question is understood. Thank you very much in advance. Best regards. Javier

Hello
I am not vague. I am trying for all the resources to learn. Of the things that I am an expert, I try to help with a simple language everybody who need it. If you want to help me, I would be very grateful, but if you do not want, do not insult me, please. I wait not to offence you. Thank you very much

Hi

I did not want to offence you but what you ask is?
You want to simulate two volumes on top of eatch other and then the bottom one will deform due to self weight of the above volume?
So the only thing you need to define is contact between the volumes.
So aider I do not understand your question (be more specific), or it's to easy?

I also did not understood the question.

Javier, what do you mean by joining 2 elements? Normally you would define them with the same nodes if you want them to be joined. If you wish something like a joint between them, then you can insert a joint element, like combin7.

You can simulate weight if you apply a vertical acceleration of 9.81 m/s^2 with the ACCEL command.

Hi,everybody.I my name is Kiril.I am trying to make a model of an aircraft wing.I am using shell elements for ribs and BEAM189 for spars. But i cannot make beams and shells behave like a uniform structure?I have tried the coupling help but i am still not certain how to define couplings. Is someone able to help me.Tank you

Which is the effect of Main Menu> Preprocessor> Modeling> Operate> Booleans> Glue> Volumes?

Which is the difference with Main Menu> Preprocessor> Modeling> Operate> Booleans> Add> Volumes?

I do not understand the difference. Thank you.

Regards. Javier

Hi Javier

The glue operation redefines the input volumes so that they share areas along their common boundaries. The new volumes encompass the same geometry as the original volumes

Adds Volumes =Adds separate volumes to create a single volume. The original volumes (and their corresponding areas, lines and keypoints) will be deleted

I would like to add something to what ducking said:

Intersecting Volumes cannot be glued. Only Volumes with in plane intersecting areas can be glued.

Adding Volumes will work for both.

Alex
