I started out making a JT file of a chassis we received from a supplier. So I got the top level JT file and in another folder, got the JT files of the components that make up the chassis. I then went to add the chassis JT file into a NX assembly. I had no problems selecting the JT file to add as a component. When I went to save the top level assembly it appears that every JT file was saved to a .prt file. It does not make sense to create a JT file of the chassis to help with working in a layout when all it seems to do is get back to a .prt file. Did I miss something in the process? Trying to figure out a way to work with our larger layouts with these chassis we get from suppliers.

Hi,
While creating the JT of your chassis assembly change your Export JT settings as (ExportJT/Files tab/File contents change the Organize JT Files option to AS A SINGLE FILE Also you can make the DISPLAY OBJECTS ALLSOLIDS AS ONE NODE option on in NX Objects tab).
This will help you bring your complete chassis jt as a single jt file and also one .prt file when saved.
I hope i understood your question clearly.
Thanks and Best Regards
