Hello everybody

I have column dimension 200mm x500mm with reinforcement

6 diameter 16 mm the problem is the clear height is 7.3 meter in the two direction x and y

That column have axial load is 150 kN working load

i want to check if that column is safe buckling or not

I use PC COLUMN AND ETAB PROGRAMM but i want to check because am afraid form that point

We use ACI318-99

Is this a lateral column or a gravity only column? Is it part of a sway frame or a non-sway frame?
Buckling is a slenderness issue. Do a slenderness check per ACI chapter 10 (I believe it is section 10.10, but I don't have it in front of me at the moment).
PCA column follows ACI for slenderness checks, so if you checked slenderness in PCA Column, you should get the same results as a hand-calc using ACI. In addition, note that the max kl/r to use the ACI method is 100 - if you have kl/r>100 you must use a second-order analysis (you can't use ACI's method).

Check out Thread 507-190987 initiated by StructuralEIT that is only a few days old and is still generating comments concerning slender concrete columns.
