Hooray! I'm currently working on V18 and we are due to migrate next month to NX4. We have a machine running an evaluation license for NX4 and if possible i would like to ask a couple of questions.

1. I was surprised to find that by default the primitive objects icons (box, sphere, cone etc) are not activated. Is there a reason for this?

2. I want to do some testing and need to export an assembly from UG18 TCEng v.7 to my native NX4 machine. Anyone know how best to do this? I've tried going to UGManager-Export assembly but have so far had no luck :(

Many thanks in advance.

Tim,

Have you ever or do you think you can do...

I am needing a spiral, actually a curved spiral, like one that would follow a line down the center of a port. I want to use this to drive my tool path.

Any suggestions?

Larry,

I've never used it other than messing around, but it sounds like Helix would be the best bet for this.

A Law curve may also work, but again, I've never had the chance to use it given the products I model.

I'm sure some of the other regular posters here have had more experience with your situation than I have had.

Larry,

You might want to check out my response in the following thread thread561-123787

If you create a sketch of a straight line from a plane located at the end of the line at the center of the part you want the helix around and give it a length of the radius for your helix, you can sweep the line along the path and vary the angle of that line by an equation ANG=N*360*t
