The experts are saying there are more baseball home runs because of climate change.

The difference is, Tug, that I think I'm generally technically correct.

No difference. Enginesrus also thinks he is generally technically correct.

You do yourself a disservice... this was stuff we learned in grade school 65 years back.

I wonder if increasing the amount of CO2 increases the density (and so could improve how the ball flies) ?

CO2 is heavier than air, so it might increase the drag, a bit...

well, footballs throw better in the cold (denser) air ... so if CO2 increases density it may act like cold air ...

That's because the air is dry.

Baseballs go farther when it's warmer (warmer balls bounce more, and warmer air means less drag)

Is there any effect on buoyancy?

Why would that be?

I read an account of this "study" somewhere. As I recall the result (more homers) was attributed to lower air density due to global warming climate change. It didn't seem like any confounding factors were examined, but I can't say for sure. Perhaps enginesrus will share his source.

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Grins, it only affected one league. It was an exercise in stats to demonstrate (yet again) that correlation is not causation. Of course now we have bunches of scientists doing 'attribution science' and pumping their excrement into the open mouths of gullible journalists who do the same to gullible readers, causation is no longer needed. Anything going up, it's global warming related. Anything going down, it's global warming related. After all we have 7 or is it 8 threads on exactly this.

Cheers

Yes, I forgot the players. Do MLB players have drug testing regularly?

I just quoted the news, by now all here should have heard it or seen it. Why always the personal attacks towards me, just because I mention things that are not popular? I don't understand? I don't do that to anyone here.

relax ... we shoot messengers here ...
