The admins of this forum didn't notify their users via e-mail that the system was going to change...

Anyways, I've disabled all e-mail notifications and still keep getting them for threads I don't even follow. Can this be fixed ASAP?

The default should NOT be to get notifications for a whole bunch of "watched" forums that I didn't even watch to begin with. I doubt I'm the only one running into this...

Seriously crappy roll-out! Why on earth would someone decide to opt everyone into everything? Boo, hiss!

Same issue and not impressed with the 20+ emails on forums I’ve never watched or have any interest in.

Similar situation for me: ~17 notifications so far, most of the watched forums I have not visited. So I 'Unmatched' the forums - hopefully, this works to undo the unwanted emails . . .

Ditto. Very unhappy.

Put me on the list of annoyed. I get enough emails as it is.

Add me to the list of extremely disappointed users - getting heaps of email notifications for threads that I have no interest in.

A very poorly implemented "upgrade" to the forums, in my opinion!

Terrible format change.

AWS did a similar change when the admins created a new forum for AWS "paid" members only. They lost valuable members worldwide that contributed exceptional knowledge.
Luckily the old unfiltered AWS forum still actively exists.
I regret that I will be leaving this difficult to navigate structure.
Thank everyone for the valuable knowledge you all have unselfishly offered through the years.

HI, we've made some adjustments to the email settings for all users that will reduce the bulk of the email notifications that you have been receiving. We will continue to adjust settings as required. Thanks for your patience and your contributions to the community.

Is it possible to only get summary emails daily, instead of every email from a watched forum?

There's a summary email option in preferences

Thank you. however, I suppose that is my point. There is a receive news and update emails (not sure what that really means).

The second one is when you haven't visited for a while. That does not indicate a daily update summary email.

Last, it appears that a watched forum will send a new email with every new conversation. (That is way too much).

Is there an option or setting for simply allowing a daily update letter of the previous or current days conversations?

When electing to watch a new forum, this follow menu is available.

What is the difference between thread and messages? (Is this topics versus individual messages in the topic)

It seems like an all or nothing watch, not one that allows a moderate daily update.

Please advise.

A thread is what you see displayed in the forum, with titles and multiple participants. A message is a private conversation, between a sended and recipient

why would there be an option when watching a forum to send notifications for threads or messages....private messages then are not forum specific?

"Watching" forums or threads just means that there is a separate, smaller display of all possible threads or forums that you are interested in. A conversation is member to member(s) messaging, like the one I just sent to you and is private unless you choose to reveal it to others
