Hello,

In CATIA product, the keep link option, does not work all the time, for ex.:

1) Part A created;
2) Part B created with sketch on face of part A;
3) Hole made on part B;
4) Try to make hole on part A linked to part B;

I know this does not work on CATIA without removing the option "keep link", but it does work on Solidworks.

Anyone knows if there is any advantage in this not working in CATIA?
Is there a way around to make this work?

Thanks,
Rjl

You are creating a circular link. This shouldn't work in any system. You cannot have A dependant upon B, which is dependant on A.

I know in CATIA it gives circular link issue, but I can assure you that in Solidworks, no problem. You can link them, change values and everything is linked.

Also you can create circular reference in ProEngineer without major issues too.

Creating the circular reference (in Pro/E anyways) is no problem. Sometimes they can get created without intending to. I ran into this a lot using Pro/MOLD.
I found the models I worked with that had circular references were unstable. PTC always told us to fix them.
