Hello,

I'm trying to connect a Rockwell Panelview Plus 700 to a Siemens S7-315 CPU trough a MPI-RS232 converter (Siemens PC-adapter).

The RS232 is the comm port on the PVPLUS and MPI is the comm port on the PLC.

The platform used to program the HMI is RSView Studio ME 4.00.0x

The PVPLUS display uses an OPC server installed on CE OS
Kepserver Enterprise.

This configuration is mentioned in the possible case on documentation.

THE problem:
The real communication doens't work

In the real app (that i downloaded) to the display, the system message tell me "unable to write to CH1.S7.myvar..."

where CH1.S7.myvar is a variable declared offline on kepserver enterprise to access data on the Siemens PLC.

TO note that the same app emulated with RSwiew Studio on Windows 2000PRO connected phisically to the Siemens PLC trough the above converter work really enchanging data between HMI app and the plc.

I set the RS232 parameter as said on Rockwell "knowledgebase" online support.

Anybody have informations to get communication work

Thank you
from ITALY

Siemens has allways had me buy the MPI-RS232HMI converter when not useing Siemens software. It is my understanding that the PC-Adapter will not suport rslinx.

I solved the above problem,

The strange thing was:

When the HMI runtime run emulated on WIN2000pro connected to the Siemens PLC via PC adapter, the RS232 cable was (2 to 3, 3 to 2 ... pin connection).

On the real situation PVP HMI display connected to Siemens PLC via PC adapter, the RS232 cable have to be pin to pin connection !!!

IT Works now
