Does anyone know any keylogger/watcher/administrator software which i can install or send to some other PCs by only knowing their IP adresses ? Is there anyway that those remote PCs will not even (if they are not good protected of course) notice that this logger has been installed to their system ?

Thanks

Thank you for the moral advise and reminding me the ethics but as far as I know accusing someone for something (especially when you have no evidence and NO IDEA what he will do) is not also a good sign of having moral values..

Can you suggest circumstances when this action would be legal and ethical? Perhaps if you explain what you want to achieve we can suggest a solution. On the face of it, your original question suggests very questionable intent.

Regardless of the ultruist goal of your post, the reality of the situation is that the responses garnered from this question COULD lead to spying / hacking. Since there is a high likelihood that this information would be used for unethical behavior, it is better not to answer.

Here is the situation ; We are a small shipbuilding company and we are selling one of our ships to another company but somehow we lately figured out that from our office one of our employees is sending out datas which have to be kept confidential. We have a suspect and all we want to do his watch his acitivities on the PC. As far as you might have seen , I am not specialist of programming or softwares etc. , this is why i have posted for help.

Besides of all I understand your sensitivity about spying / hacking people's computers, but on the other hand I still wonder if anyone has ideas to help me figure out a solution WITH or WITHOUT using such a programme ? Would be appriciated.

Thank you for the clarification. Some other clarifications:

> Based on the limited information in your original posting, what you originally proposed is illegal wiretapping. No moral judgements required.

> Recognizing illegal or immoral behavior does not require the observer to be immoral.

Since this is company property, right to privacy is not required. Your IT people can simply go through some exercise of "updating" hardware or software and install a monitoring program directly. Additionally, your firewall should have datalogs of all internet transactions and your IT people should be able to log the suspect's activities. Your email server should have a record of all emails sent/received.

How do you know that he is sending data out through a company computer?

Most people know that emails are logged and tracked and recoverable.

I don't think a key logger or spy ware is the only solution you need to look into. I think you need to look into this a lot more - say with professional security experts - beyond an engineering forum.

If you have a suspected employee sending out confidential information, you have a BIG problem.

Have you talked to your lawyer? He be my first stop.
Have you talked to your local police? They can sometimes help.
Have you talked to your lawyer? He be my second stop.

If you are in the US, all of your employees also have constitutional and civil rights (Martin Luther King Jr. Day). You really don't want to violate any of those - could be embarassing and costly.

First of all thank you all, for the intense.

1 As I mentioned we are a "small" company and totally 7 people(engineers) are working.

2 We do not use a server and everybody has his own mail account.

3 Talking to a lawyer ? for this case ? I dont think so..

4 Lastly, we are working all abroad now and all of us are away from our countries plus totally 4 different countries and nations we are coming from...

And ?

Casual and unofficial spying on one's employees/partners will not produce evidence that is usable in court. If the employer/employee relationship has broken down to this extent, then just fire the person. Your participation in illegal activities cannot do any good to the situation.

Besides which, if anyone posts in this forum with information on stuff that is usually used for illegal purposes, they are likely to have membership revoked.

Yuor intent is unclear. If you suspect that there is additional information that is employee can steal; then fire his butt. Whatever measures you might take cannot possibly guarantee that he already knows that he's under suspicion and will change his tactics.

If you are looking for compensation, then you should fire his butt and get a qualified forensic IT guy to trace his communications.

OK. It is clear that those informations are likely to be use on spying / hacking purposes.

So I would like to dismiss this thread and thank you all who tried to help me out of this situation.
