I have a customer that wants our auxillary pressure vessel to meet KHK standards. we have designed to ASME Sect VIII div1.
MAWP is 765 at 40C (operating temp). We were using forged 6 inch ANSI B16.5 Class 400 steel lap joint flanges, but I understand that KHK requires 43mm thick flange vs 41mm for Class 400. Vessel is 304 stainless made from 6 inch Sch 80 seamless pipe with ID machined to 5.906 ID and OD machined to give 0.195 thick wall. Vessel is capped with butt welded flat head 1.44 thick machined back to 0.80 inch thick with .38 radiuses at the corners.
Questions:
1. Is 43mm flange required, or will standard CL 400 be acceptable.
2. Are wall section acceptable to KHK standards, and what standard is applicable (so we can purchase for our library)
