good evening all long time no see from me .
i was wondering how sw 2021 fairs in kitchen design and cnc machining those parts for said kitchen.
At work we Use another cad package and its a pig to use(cabinet vision fortunately that is not my job having to deal with said program).
I have seen the rigmarole it takes to do the simplest things in it and what a pig of a program.time consuming make one minor change here and a completely unrelated change happens over here. Its a mess and time consuming not even up sw2006 functionality which i have and am much quicker at doing similar things on.
is there an addon that makes cabinetry in solidworks these days?
thanks for your help
Brett

Sojournerman,

Like many tools, the operator of the tool is absolutely important. SolidWorks is easy to use, but it is not idiot resistant. The cool features of SolidWorks are useless if you do not take advantage of them.

If you are going to use SolidWorks for kitchen cabinetry, you need to build a library of components. Definitely you need to model sinks taps and handles. Maybe entire cabinet doors should be in your library. SolidWorks allows you to create BOMs. SolidWorks allows you to create fabrication drawings, plus assembly and installation drawings. If you hire CAD monkeys, all bets are off.

It is not super, but if you know how to use driveworks it is not terrible after it is all setup. I built my cabinetry, face frames, and drawers using SW. If you are doing it for a business there are far better solutions.
