Hello Colleagues.

I am moving my automations from V5 to CATIA 3DExperience and I am having a hard time trying to figure it out how reaction works inside the platform...
In V5 I can:
1)Create a product
2)insert a reaction
3)select the product as source
4)choose VB action
5)use the argument Inserted and develop my code
My code reads a parameter inside the inserted part and sends a message every time when I insert a part into the assembly.

In CATIA 3DExperience I can't do the same thing.
My steps were:
1)Inserted a Physical Product
2)Inserted a Knowledge Engineering Specification node
3)Inserted the reaction
4)In the selection mode I can not select the assembly. I also tried instead of the selection mode, to switch to Owner mode but without success...

My Goal is to be able to read a parameter inside an inserted part/product and show in a msg box every time I insert a part to that assembly.

Could anyone help me to understand how reactions work in the platform? I also searched in the Help documentation on the cloud environment we have, also on youtube, sites, forums....

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thank you for your time and support.

Eduardo

UPDATE ON THIS ISSUE.
This is a not possible scenario in 3DExperience. I just filed a Service Request for Dassault R&D to take a look and propose a workaround solution or to update 3DExperience with the same V5 behavior.

I have the feeling it is the trigger of the "reaction" that do have some limitation.

If you create an Action, declare it in DataSetup and assign a shortcut to it, you should be able to run this action anytime you want.

Hi colleagues, good night.

Just an update to this subject. Dassault did respond to my Service Request and the reaction can now select the Physical Product, like it does on Products in CATIA V5. But be aware that the usage of the reaction on a Physical Product can impact models using 150% of EBOM approach.

Hope that helps
