Does anyone have a formula for calculating a ply thickness for a fabric if you know the resin fraction, the fiber density, and how much pressure is used for the lamination (open mold, vacuum bag, autoclave)? If you could share it with me then that would be appreciated.

There is a german standard DIN 29971 that might be useful as a first approximation. It assume 0 void content and no resin flow. All the variables can be gotten from the prepreg suppliers. It does not account for the processing parameters.

= (prepreg areal mass)*(fibre mass fraction)/(fibre volume fraction)/(fibre density)

prepreg areal mass g/m2
fibre density g/cm3
resin density g/cm3

This gives you effective thickness in metres.
