Question:

Is there anyway (or any program) that would allow multiple users to access the same assembly and work on it at the same time?

As you know- if you open an assembly that has been opened by someone else on your network - you can only open the file read only and any changes you make are lost.

What you desire is not possible in SolidWorks. It's also noy possible in MS Word either. That's a hint as to what is possible. Ray Reynolds

Quicksilver DDM is a PDM package that allows sort of an automated transfer of write rights(!)to a particular PART contained in an assembly.

Operator A has an assembly open.
Operator B opens the assy read only.
Operator B calls for write access to a part within the assy.
Operator A decides to relinquish these rights.
Operator B makes changes to the part and releases rights back to A.
Operator A reloads the part to see the changes.

Thanks Mandrake22 - I will be checking this out.
