I've read many articles online including the Siemens site recommendations but am still unable to determine an decent setup. Looking forward to hearing from those that have a laptop and have successful results from their configuration.
My plans are to use the BORROW option from my workstation to laptop.
Mostly used for piece part to very small assemblies- 20-50 parts max.
price is a concern, looking to spend between 2-3k at most.
all comments / suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
thanks,

Very pleased with the Zbook from HP...
Actually performes better than the Z440 which has double the amount of memory and a better Processor

Any Zbook specific model recommended?

We are using the Zbook 15G2 but that is no longer available...I would recommend the ZBook 15G4..do not go for the 17" unless you are NOT using a external monitor.
Works like a charm with 2 external monitors and the laptop display....giving me 3 displays to work with.

Ronald,

Would this HP be good enough?

Specifications:
Intel Core i7-4710MQ Processor 2.5GHz
Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
8GB RAM
500GB Hard Drive
Intel HD Graphics 4600
SD Card Reader
10/100/1000 Network
15.6" Display

I also can get this option:
HP ZBook 14u G4 14" Mobile Workstation Laptop Computer

Intel Core i5-7200U Processor 2.5GHz
AMD FirePro W4190M 2GB
8GB RAM
256GB Solid State Drive
Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
SD Media Card Reader
10/100/1000 Network
Dual Band 802.11ac Wireless
Bluetooth 4.2
14" Full HD Anti-Glare Display

Which one is better?
Do both have "Touch Screen" capabilities?

I would go for the I7 with an SSD option if possible. It will be much faster when loading data.
Also go for at least 16G of internal memory. If you are working with Office on the same client 8GB will not be enough.
Graphics card - I don't heave experience with AMD cards but with the I7 I would also go with an external Graphics card (with fair amount of onboard memory) and then disable the Intel one.
The Intel graphics card is sharing memory with your internal memory..This will for sure affect your performance.

About the touch screen, not sure about that. Me personally I would not go for it yet. With a mouse you have far better and detailed selection capabilities.

Thanks for all the replies... Would you have time to recommend an actual model from HP.
The options I would like are.
Run UGNX 12 , Microsoft 10pro, screen size 17, be able to have wireless mouse and wireless key board, space pilot, and cost between 2-3 k. any help / suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

As it is not allowed for me to promote any selling websites... I would recommend the hp-zbook-17-g4-mobile-workstation
I Guess you can find a website yourself where you can buy them.

I understand fully.. I am not looking for where to get it, That I already have decided where, its just a matter of selecting the right combination..im not a computer guy... How's this. appreciate your guidance.

LCD 17.3 LED FHD Screen
• 2 X SSD 1TB M2 PCIe-3x4 NVMe
• RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 2133 DDR4
• WLAN I 8260 ac 2x2 nvP +BT 4.2 WW
• GFX NVIDIA Quadro M1000M 2GB GDDR5

Hi tbody,

Instead of the 2x 1TB SSD I would spend more on a Graphics card with more onboard memory. The Performance speed for NX is greatly improved with more graphics memory.
M3000M or M4000M (not much difference between these 2)
For xtra Data storage (Any Data other than NX) I would opt for a normal HDD next to a system SSD
