Our company is evaluating 3D_CAD Software for machine design, and I'd like to get a feel for the size of model (number of parts) that people are building with Inventor.

Please don't turn this thread into a "Software X vs Software Y" discussion, the main question is:

In the models you currently building, how many parts do you have?

If you like to type, some other questions are:
For large assemblies, what kind of performance do you get with rebuilds, saves, editing of parts, etc?

So far the largest assembly I've built is a multiple sub assemblies comprising just over 2400 parts. Approx 30% of parts are screws, washers etc.

Model rebuilds/updates and editing of parts are instant.
Saves can take a couple of minutes (may be the server).

I believe that the hierarchy of system reqirements are:

1. Ram - absolute minimum 500MB, but go for 1G
2. Graphics card - the best you can get
3. Hard drive - as 2
4. CPU - pentium 3 at 700 or better.

Hope this helps you
