Out of personal curiosity, I am hoping to track down a list or database of the largest pumps and largest pump stations (of each kind, e.g., water/wastewater/storm water/etc.) in the world. I have googled around rather unsuccessfully for this. I am putting this question out to eng-tips.com to see if anyone out there has any leads that might help expedite this search. Thanks in advance for any ideas/leads you may have on how to track this type of info down!

Great. Just this morning I was thinking about where I can wear my tux.

Reality used to affect the way we thought. Now we somehow believe that what we think affects reality.

They are pumps after all.

That's why you need different categories of "biggest"

Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

Or different "biggest" for pump types - axial, radial, PD, auger ...

For example, it's logical that flood control applications like the New Orleans or Netherlands examples use axial pumps (high flow, low head, low variation in flow).

Specifically auger pumps, the biggest auger diameter appears to be at 5 m (examples:
Are there bigger auger pumps in terms of diameter?

well, there are ways to get some head out of these pumps:

How about letting us know what you uncovered, anything extraordinary?

It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Sherlock Holmes - A Scandal in Bohemia.)

When New Orleans "drowned" the Army Corp of Engineers were all up about getting their pumps installed and the New Orleans guys were trying to get them to stop and just get power to the main pumps - the Engineer's pumps had far better head performance, but would take weeks to move the water; the New Orleans main pumps were sized to do the same job in days and likely would have kept up with the hurricane if power had not been cut off.

These might be the biggest pumps in the world. :)
