Limited information available as to the size of the weapon and the design and construction of the building.

However, it would seem that a building should be able to take more hits prior to failure.

It definitely has the tech know how and they might ship in the bomb casings etc but software and control units are home grown.

They are also very adept at getting things made with none military specs but with additional features which when combined with other products turn things into a very tidy weapons system.

There was a case of them ordering a software upgrade out of a telecom exchange producer to do with battery control. Nobody though anything of it. And it was in for 6 months. Then reports came in of someone in gaza had answered and their phone and head had been blown off. They had put there phone in to get fixed because they had down graded it via the network so it appeared broken. They had replaced the battery with a new one with some px in it. They answered the phone, they pressed the button and bang.

What they don't have is volume of production for large scale conflict. But they definitely have top of the range world leading kit.

Just because you can take another manufacturer's nameplate off and put your own nameplate on doesn't make you adept.

For example, the iron dome would never have been developed without US aid.

Did patriot really work?

I recall Bush Senior boasting about how effective they were (near 100%), but then read elsewhere that they were close to useless at actually stopping missiles.

It had a mixed record. One spectacular failure in Saudi Arabia to intercept was eventually traced in a GAO analysis to a silly design error(feature) where the timing clock for performing the trajectory analysis was too small, and when the system was left on for more than a day or so, the precision would get progressively worse, and after 3 days of being continuously on
, there was a high likelihood that any missile launched would result in a miss.

They don't even bother taking the name plate off. They just order it and spec it to do something that the OEM has zero clue what its end use is.

Lets face it BAe Systems can't even get most projects to work properly when they are up front with what they are buying stuff to do and completely open with the design goals.

As for the aid they will use what ever makes life easier but not getting help would not have stopped them completing it if they had decided that it was required.

My comments are not made with any comment about what the end projects are eventually used for. They are only comments about the capability, resourcefulness and talent that Israel has in house for engineering systems across all flavours of disciplines. They most certainly do have the tech knowhow, also the resolution to complete what ever they put their priorities to.

I have BAE window wipers on my boats, formerly Kearfott, formerly Singer. An ancient design designed to be installed internally but usually installed externally. Military spec requires lock washers which let's moisture under the heads of the bolts and causes everything to seize up solid. If BAE can't fix something that trivial I assume they can't make anything work right.

They are referred to as British waste of space. If it was up to the end users ie Serving Members of the UK military they would never get another contract ever again.

Don't share your admiration for capability, et al. In most cases, like the Israel air force, the supposed capability is due to the fact that their adversaries have weapons that are several generations older.

The total number of employees of the 3 largest defense contractors is Elbit (16,600), Rafael (7,000), and Israel Aerospace Industries (15,000). BAE alone has 79,000 employees, Boeing has 50,700 employees, Northrup has 23,000, and General Dynamics has 100,000.

Even if the Israel defense employees were the smartest in the world and had a productivity twice that of others in the defense business, the Israel defense industry is still peanuts in the world defense industry.

And what about the "Iron Dome"? If it was so great, why won't the US buy it from them?

well because the iron dome would be a silly waste of money in the US - a very large country not surrounded by hostiles firing potato guns, what would be the point?

Never underestimate the ability of the US to waste money on border security. I think my entire federal tax contribution for the last 10 years *may* have covered the cost of a single steel slat in Trump's border wall.

For use in the Middle East.

The service plans to decide on a location for Iron Dome once the product reaches operational deployment capability. Sen. John Boozman, R-Ark., in May 2020 suggested to then-Defense Secretary Mark Esper that the Army deploy the system to U.S. Central Command’s area of responsibility in the Middle East.

wouldn't be much point in ringing the US with Iron Domes, since we've not had much in the way of rocket attacks from either border. Nevertheless, there are parts of the US that might benefit from SHORAD-like systems to prevent terrorist attacks, although, the US has SHORAD systems being developed

What was the point of your comment mentioning the purchase by the US?

I wouldn't call it admiration its more respect for what they can accomplish especially compared to what I experienced in my own country the UK. I am a Scottish protestant BTW, so there is no political nonsense behind my comments.

Yes the threat is relatively low tech but again as a brit that served in the 90's I know fine that a fertiliser bomb and IDE will kill you just as dead as a MLRS grid square removal.

The stuff they make works and is effective. All of the mentioned company's are in major project issues of stuff just not working half the problem is the project specifications given to them are utter bullshit and then get changed later on.

In the cyber warfare theatre they are also way up there world wide on bought in equipment.

Thanks, it looks like it was 3 separate strikes with multiple missiles per strike, one from the left side and two from the right side, the second of which actually took down the core of the building

Real precision work, have to hand it to them.
Can't say I agree with neither there actions or politics.
