Three floors collapsed in Las Vegas.

Fortunately no one injured:

LV Collapse

It looks like we may have to classify parking garage construction along side Alaskan Crab Fishing.

"Fortunately, no one was injured:"...yet.

What happens in Vegas... ;)

Thanks, JAE for keeping us aware of any construction accidents. We as engineers and human beings can often learn lessons from these tragedies.

Can't really tell much of what collapsed from the slides - any further news here?

Here’s some other info:

Fontainebleau released the following statement:

During the course of construction this morning, a pre-cast twin tee, an isolated part of the Fontainebleau garage collapsed, causing a domino effect before stopping at a concrete slab several levels below. We are thankful to be able to report that no injuries were incurred. We have suspended all construction on and within the garage complex until a full investigation of the cause of the accident can be completed.

A video on one of the newscasts indicate that three iron workers fell – two had safety harnesses which saved them. The third worker’s harness “failed” and he fell about 30 feet – missed some rebar by inches:

One of three workers hurt in a fall at a Las Vegas casino-resort construction site has died. A state OSHA official confirms the fatality this morning, and says the agency is investigating. No word yet on the identity of the dead man.
A Clark County fire official says harness safety systems broke the fall of two of three men who fell yesterday from atop a 30 foot wall at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas site.
That's a high-rise condo project being built off Riviera Boulevard between Paradise Road and the Las Vegas Strip. The safety system failed for the third man, and he plunged into a ten-foot hole.
All three men were taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. The Fontainebleau tower is due to open in late 2009 with almost 4,000 rooms, a casino, hotel, condominium and spa.
