This is a question regarding the lateral support of an interupted gable wall.

This is a residential design with a 7' wide fireplace/chimney extending above the roof.

The roof is a vaulted ceiling and the stone veneer is to be fully exposed.

The gable end walls also have windows, limiting shear capacity.

The code requires a 2" clearance to combustible wood framing.

Question: Would there be an issue regarding thermal conductivity using steel clips to connect/brace the wall to the CMU ?

(Reinforced CMU is adequate to resist applied shear load.)

Thanks

If you have any concern about it, just use a korolath shim between the CMU and the steel clip as a thermal break.
