Can any tell me how to reduce the surfactants from a laundry waste stream. The FDEP has a contamination limit at 2 mg/l as a residual in the soil. The treatment process now is aeration and filtration and the concentration runs between 250-500. The wastewater is disposed in a typical subsurface drainfield. Am I wrong in arguing that the detergents are biodegradable. I am testing an additive (basically grease) and seeing some reduction (50%). Maybe just increase the dose? Seems kind of odd to add grease to waste water but what the heck. Any help would be appreciated.
