Layer in assy question

Dear all,

why is that sometimes if i put an part in an assy the layer on which i place the part becomes active, and sometimes it doesn't?? Meaning i have to put the layer "Selectable' in the layer settings menu.

Is there a customer default setting or preference option i need to set??

Working on NX4.0.4.2 MP10.

It is probably just that All layers or at least the range you happen to be working across are set to selectable. If All layer are set to invisible and you move an object to another layer then of course it disappears.

Most Out of the Box template parts are initially created with All layers selectable.
