Layer settings for colour and translucency 1

I would like to know how can I assign different colour and translucency values to layers so that I dont have to use "edit object display" for each object in different layer.

This knowledge would help me a lot for automatically assigning standard colour and translucency values to objects in design, stock, fixture etc. layers in my default file for NC programming.

UG does not assign entity attributes based on layers.
You need to set up the system so it will assign those values when the objects are created OR edit them after they created.
